Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) gets SEBI nod for its IPO, featuring an offer for sale by promoter IEX. Discover financial highlights, valuation, and key dates.

The Indian Gas Exchange has successfully obtained approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India to launch its Initial Public Offering. As India’s premier automated national-level gas trading platform, this regulatory clearance allows IGX to move forward with its plans to access public capital markets.

Understanding the Gas Exchange Offer Structure

The initial public offering will function exclusively as an offer for sale of up to 1.67 crore equity shares held by the promoter, the Indian Energy Exchange. IEX currently maintains a 47.28% stake in the gas exchange, which exceeds the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board mandate capping single-entity holdings at 25% beyond a specified period.

Key structural and financial figures include:

  • Promoter stake reduction target deadline set for December 31, 2026.
  • Fiscal year 2026 profit reported at ₹42 crore, marking a 36.5% increase.
  • Operating revenue reaching ₹61 crore with a 25% growth rate.
  • Trading volume hitting 76.79 million MMBtu in FY26.

Other stakeholders in IGX include NSE Investments holding 24.75%. Several companies including ONGC, GAIL India, Torrent Gas, Adani Total Gas, and Indian Oil Corporation each hold 4.92%.

Telecom Valuation and Tariff Trends

Simultaneously in the telecommunications sector, Bharti Airtel implemented an across-the-board increase of ₹50 on its postpaid plans effective October 8, 2026, bundling one free annual international roaming trip. Centrum Institutional Research projects that Indian mobile tariffs could increase by 12% to 15% in the next four to five months due to a more favorable pricing environment.

Projected Average Revenue Per User metrics include:

  • Bharti Airtel ARPU projected to rise to ₹269 in the second quarter of FY27.
  • Reliance Jio ARPU expected to reach ₹218 in the second quarter of FY27.

The pricing adjustments reflect ongoing industry efforts to improve Average Revenue Per User and maintain sustainable business architectures away from low-cost unlimited data plans.
