Key Highlights

Indian gurus in Athens support an eight-film series on Hindu gods, inspired by ‘The Passion of the Christ’. The first film is ‘The Chronicles of Devi’.

A new initiative in faith-based filmmaking is gaining momentum in India, with religious leaders from various traditions supporting an ambitious eight-film series centered on Hindu gods. The project draws inspiration from the success of films such as Mel Gibson’s ‘The Passion of the Christ’ and ‘Chaar Sahibzaade’.

The first installment in the series, ‘The Chronicles of Devi: Chapter 1 – Mahishasura’, has been officially announced, signaling the beginning of this cinematic endeavor.

This wave of faith-based filmmaking aims to bring religious narratives to a broader audience, utilizing the visual medium to explore and celebrate Hindu deities.
