Thousands of families in Assam are receiving crucial aid as Gautam Adani and the Adani Foundation step up relief efforts after devastating floods hit the region.
Adani’s Significant Contribution
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, has personally contributed Rs 11 crore to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This substantial donation is specifically aimed at bolstering the state’s ongoing flood relief and rehabilitation initiatives, providing much-needed financial assistance.
Widespread Relief Efforts
Beyond the individual contribution, the Adani Foundation, the Adani Group’s social welfare arm, has also launched a significant flood relief program. This effort, in collaboration with Adani Smart Meter and Guwahati International Airport Limited, spans across Upper Assam.
The program is actively distributing essential relief kits to approximately 8,000 families in the affected areas. These kits are vital, containing critical food items, necessary medicines, and crucial hygiene supplies for daily needs.
Teams are meticulously reaching out to 14 villages within specific areas: the Nazira Sub-Division of Sivasagar district and Silapathar in Dhemaji district. Their focus remains on ensuring aid penetrates even the most remote and challenging-to-access communities.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma publicly acknowledged this contribution, emphasizing its role in strengthening the state’s overall relief initiatives and assisting thousands of affected families. The Foundation has also expressed a commitment to long-term recovery and fostering community resilience beyond immediate aid.
Such comprehensive support from corporate leaders and foundations is instrumental in helping communities not only recover from immediate crises but also in rebuilding their lives and ensuring long-term stability.
