Gameskraft Assets Worth ₹1,906 Crore Attached by ED
By Business Desk
Enforcement Directorate attaches ₹1,906 crore in assets from online gaming firm Gameskraft as part of a money laundering investigation. Total seizures now ₹2,401 crore.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) provisionally attached assets worth ₹1,906 crore belonging to online gaming firm Gameskraft and its associated entities on July 22, 2026. This action forms part of an ongoing investigation into alleged money laundering within India’s online real money gaming sector.
This attachment brings the total value of seized assets in the current probe to ₹2,401 crore.
Understanding the Assets Attached
The ED’s action targeted a range of financial and physical assets from Gameskraft.
These provisionally attached assets include:
Bank and fixed deposits
Mutual funds
Convertible notes
Equity shares
Immovable properties
Allegations Driving the Probe
The investigation specifically targets prominent gaming platforms operated by Gameskraft, which collectively serve approximately 30 million users.
These platforms include:
RummyCulture
RummyPrime
Playship
RummyTime
The Enforcement Directorate alleges that these platforms deliberately fostered an addictive gaming environment. This was achieved by offering various bonuses and referral rewards, designed to maximize their commissions.
The commissions charged by these platforms ranged from 10% to 15% of the total wagers placed.
Additionally, the agency claims that automated programs, known as BOTs, were deployed to play against human users. This practice allegedly generated substantial proceeds derived from these commissions.
These proceeds, according to the ED, were then moved through corporate channels. This included mechanisms such as dividend payments and share buy-backs.
Regulatory Implications for Online Gaming
Gameskraft has previously faced scrutiny regarding the fundamental classification of its games as either skill-based or chance-based. This current development amplifies the increasing regulatory pressure confronting the Indian online gaming industry.
This regulatory focus encompasses critical areas such as taxation, consumer protection, and overall operational ethics. The final outcome of these legal proceedings, conducted under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, will hold significant implications for all stakeholders involved, potentially reshaping compliance standards and business models across the digital entertainment and real money gaming sectors.
