Foodies in Delhi, get ready for a new culinary adventure as celebrated chef Gaggan Anand finally opens his first permanent restaurant in India, ‘Raga’, on August 26.

After two decades away, Anand, known globally for his innovative Indian cuisine at Bangkok’s ‘Gaggan’, is bringing a distinct experience to Janpath. This venture marks his official comeback to the Indian dining scene after previous temporary stints.

Key Culinary Details

The intimate restaurant accommodates only 32 seats, alongside a five-person chef’s counter.

Diners can expect a 22-course tasting menu.

Each person will pay Rs 11,111 for this experience, with advance online booking and payment required.

Mark your calendars for the grand opening on August 26.

This new establishment is a collaboration with restaurateur Zorawar Kalra, founder of Massive Restaurants, who was instrumental in convincing Anand to set up in India. The Janpath location previously housed Kalra’s Masala Library, giving ‘Raga’ a prime spot.

What’s on the Plate

The kitchen will be led by Group Executive Chef Rydo Anton.

The menu will feature the classic ‘Yoghurt Explosion’, alongside new interpretations like vada pav, tabak maas, and nalli nihari.

The dining experience is envisioned as ‘a textural, visual, emotional journey of food.’

While the decor and pricing strategy saw collaboration, the culinary direction is solely under Gaggan Anand and Rydo Anton. Kalra reportedly persuaded Anand towards a more moderate pricing for a long-term restaurant, compared to his previous high-priced residencies.

This high-end dining experience, with its specific pricing and booking requirements, offers a new benchmark for luxury culinary spending in the capital.
