FSSAI forces six food businesses to correct misleading labels and practices, enhancing consumer protection and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has compelled six food business operators to implement corrective measures following violations of food safety and labeling regulations.

These companies swiftly removed misleading claims, updated packaging, altered trademarks, and delisted certain products to comply with regulatory notices.

The FSSAI issued notices to these operators, prompting specific changes across various product categories to ensure adherence to established standards.

Corrective Actions by Food Business Operators

The enforcement actions required a range of adjustments from the involved companies:

  • Livyor Ventures Pvt Ltd withdrew “vegan” and “healthy” claims from its Livyor Roasted Edamame Beans, citing a lack of regulatory awareness.
  • Honest Innovations For You Pvt Ltd and Heliostone Specialities Pvt Ltd both changed their previously flagged trademarks.
  • Rajasthan Agro and General Industries removed misleading claims and ceased the use of PPM in its labeling.
  • Iota Nanotechnology Pvt Ltd eliminated misleading claims and stopped production of non-standardized water products.
  • Panchamurtha Industries Pvt Ltd delisted its electrolyte drink from its official website.

These interventions are central to the FSSAI’s mandate to uphold food safety regulations and shield consumers from deceptive product information.

The regulator underscores the importance of accurate labeling for market transparency and public health.

FSSAI’s Intensified Enforcement

The authority has significantly ramped up its enforcement efforts across the food industry, targeting various product types.

This includes a specific focus on businesses marketing energy drinks and alcoholic beverages that carry claims potentially violating prescribed standards.

The FSSAI’s proactive stance signals a continued commitment to regulatory vigilance, ensuring that food businesses operate within strict compliance frameworks to foster consumer trust and safety in the Indian market.
