Blnk Secures $37.1 Million for Credit Expansion
Egyptian fintech company Blnk has successfully raised $37.1 million in combined equity and debt financing. This significant capital infusion is set to fuel the expansion of its point-of-sale consumer credit services across the nation. The move underscores Blnk’s commitment to enhancing financial inclusion within Egypt’s rapidly evolving economic landscape.
The funding, announced on June 8, 2026, is structured as a combined package. It includes a $12.5 million Series A equity round, which saw leadership from Algebra Ventures. Other key equity contributors included SANAD Fund for MSME, Endeavor Catalyst, and Emirates International Investment Company (EIIC).
Complementing the equity, Blnk also secured $24.6 million in local debt financing. This debt component was provided by a consortium of prominent Egyptian financial institutions, including Suez Canal Bank, Bank Albaraka, National Bank of Egypt, Corplease, Globalcorp, and BM Lease. The diverse funding sources highlight broad investor confidence in Blnk’s business model and market potential.
Driving Financial Inclusion with AI-Powered Solutions
Established in 2021, Blnk has rapidly carved a niche in the consumer credit sector. The company’s core offering relies on advanced AI-based risk analysis, enabling instant credit approvals directly at points of sale. This innovative approach provides customers with flexible repayment options, spanning from 6 to 36 months, tailored to their financial needs.
Blnk’s strategic objective extends to significantly enhancing financial inclusion across Egypt. The company has already made substantial progress, accumulating a customer base of over one million individuals. Its loan portfolio has grown to exceed one billion Egyptian pounds, reflecting strong market penetration and demand for its services.
Operationally, Blnk reached a significant milestone in 2025 by achieving profitability. This was underscored by an impressive 173% year-on-year revenue growth. A key aspect of Blnk’s impact is its reach to underserved populations: 75% of its users were previously unbanked or underbanked, and over 35% of its clientele are women, demonstrating its role in broadening access to credit.
Egypt’s Growing Consumer Finance Market Fuels Expansion
This substantial investment coincides with a period of robust expansion in Egypt’s broader consumer financing market. Data from the Egyptian Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) indicates that the market surged to 96.3 billion Egyptian pounds in 2025. This figure represents a remarkable 57.1% year-on-year increase, highlighting a fertile environment for fintech innovation and growth.
Looking ahead, Blnk intends to strategically deploy the newly secured capital across several key initiatives. These plans include further enhancing its proprietary technology infrastructure and launching a dedicated credit card program. Additionally, the company aims to diversify its existing product offerings and actively explore opportunities for expansion into new regional markets beyond its current operations in Egypt.
