By Market Desk
India’s Nifty 50 index closes above 200-day EMA at 24,370, showing technical strength and positive sentiment. Eyes on 24,600 resistance.
The Nifty 50 index concluded the week with consistent gains, closing above its 200-day Exponential Moving Average at 24,370. Market participants are now closely monitoring the 24,600 mark as a key potential resistance level.
Lower market volatility is currently underpinning positive sentiment, with traders anticipating further upward movement. The Indian equity market recorded a notable recovery, posting gains in four of the last five trading sessions.
Nifty’s Technical Strength and Targets
- On July 31, the Nifty 50 rose by 0.27 percent.
- Total gains reached 2.6 percent since its recent low on July 24.
- The index trades above its 200-day EMA of 24,370, establishing a higher high and higher low pattern.
- The Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 59.21, indicating improving strength.
Investors are focusing on the 24,500 to 24,600 zone. Potential targets of 24,800 to 25,000 could be achieved if upward momentum sustains, provided the 24,000-24,100 support zone remains stable.
Bank Nifty in Transition
Conversely, the Bank Nifty is navigating a transition phase, experiencing pressure near its 20-day and 100-day moving averages. A decisive close above its 20-day EMA, at 57,282, is essential to confirm a sustained uptrend.
The Bank Nifty currently encounters resistance at the 23.6 percent Fibonacci retracement level.
Market Stability and Options Data
Overall market stability is improving, evidenced by a decline in the India VIX. The volatility index fell by 3.29 percent to 11.755, marking its lowest level since July 7.
- In the options market, high open interest at the 24,600 strike for Nifty calls suggests significant resistance.
- The 24,000 strike shows maximum open interest on the put side, reinforcing its role as crucial support.
- The Nifty Put-Call Ratio (PCR) has risen to 1.39, indicating a positive market direction.
For the coming week, key monitorables include the Nifty 50 maintaining its position above 24,370 and the Bank Nifty successfully breaking past its immediate resistance levels.
