India’s mutual fund industry reported significant expansion in July, with total Assets Under Management (AUM) climbing by 4.30% from the prior month. This growth contributed to an impressive 13.80% year-over-year increase, driven by consistent investor engagement.

July AUM Growth Highlights

  • Monthly AUM increase: 4.30%
  • Annual AUM growth: 13.80%

Corporates maintained the largest share of these mutual fund assets, holding 37.17% of the total. High Net-Worth Individuals (HNIs) followed closely with 33.83%, while retail investors accounted for nearly 27% of the industry’s assets.

Asset Holders Breakdown

  • Banks and financial institutions: 1.92%
  • Foreign Portfolio Investors and Foreign Institutional Investors: 0.07%

Equity and balanced funds collectively formed the largest asset class within the Indian mutual fund landscape, making up 61.06% of all assets. Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) and Fund of Funds (FoFs) represented 14.01%. Liquid and money market funds held 13.37%, with debt funds accounting for 11.57%.

The equity segment demonstrated particularly strong investor interest in July, attracting combined net inflows totaling Rs 24,697 crore. This robust performance highlights continued confidence in equity-oriented schemes.

  • Small-cap funds: Rs 7,768 crore
  • Mid-cap funds: Rs 6,192 crore
  • Flexi-cap funds: Rs 4,709 crore
