By Market DeskAugust Equity Mutual Fund Inflows Jump 18% to Rs 29,328 Cr

Active equity mutual funds in India saw net inflows rise 18% to Rs 29,328 crore in August 2026, while SIP contributions hit a record Rs 32,297 crore.

Mutual Fund Performance Trends

Actively managed equity mutual funds in India recorded a net inflow of Rs 29,328.62 crore during August 2026. This performance reflects an 18% increase over the Rs 24,697.39 crore recorded in July, according to data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India.

Key drivers behind the August growth include:

Small-cap funds led the segment with net inflows totaling Rs 7,973.33 crore. Mid-cap and flexi-cap categories also maintained positive momentum throughout the month.

SIP Contributions and Debt Outflows

Investor participation through Systematic Investment Plans continued to expand, reaching a new milestone in August. Contributions climbed to a record Rs 32,297 crore, rising from the Rs 31,961 crore observed in the previous month.

The debt fund segment, however, moved in the opposite direction during the same period. Market data indicates the following activity:

Debt fund outflows reached Rs 8,127.32 crore, marking a shift from the net inflows recorded in July. This trend was primarily driven by heavy outflows from overnight funds, which were only partially mitigated by inflows into liquid funds.

These figures highlight a clear divergence in investor appetite between equity-linked products and debt instruments. While the sustained record-setting pace of SIP contributions signals long-term retail confidence, the volatility in debt fund flows underscores shifting liquidity requirements within the broader market landscape.
