Delhi to Launch 3 Major Transport Hubs by 2047
By ThePip Desk
Delhi’s Master Plan 2047 includes three major Multi-Modal Transport Hubs by 2047, integrating metro, rail, and bus services for enhanced urban connectivity.
Delhi is set to establish three Multi-Modal Transport Hubs under the proposed Master Plan of Delhi 2047. These hubs, located at Anand Vihar-Karkardooma, Kashmere Gate, and Nizamuddin-Sarai Kale Khan, aim to seamlessly integrate various public transport options.
Hubs to Consolidate Transport Modes
The core objective behind these developments is to consolidate metro, rail, bus, para-transit, and non-motorised transport facilities. This integration will significantly improve intermodal transfers and last-mile connectivity for commuters across the capital.
The three identified locations for these crucial transit hubs include: Anand Vihar-Karkardooma, Kashmere Gate, and Nizamuddin-Sarai Kale Khan.
Operational Mechanisms and Integration
Transit agencies are mandated to collaborate on comprehensive plans for these projects, with potential for identifying additional sites. The plan explicitly allows for the pooling of land and combining diverse transport modes within a single complex.
Key integration methods involve: skywalks, subways, and pedestrian bridges to connect separated land parcels. These hubs will also feature multi-level interchange facilities, active spaces, retail areas, and cultural and public spaces to enhance commuter safety and interaction.
Advanced Technology and Development Guidelines
A critical component involves implementing Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and AI-based passenger and traffic management solutions. These technologies are designed to optimize data integration, enforcement, and overall movement efficiency within the hubs.
Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) projects situated within a 500-meter radius of these hubs will require strict integration. Their approval hinges on aligning with the hub’s overarching master plan.
This strategic infrastructure development under the Master Plan of Delhi 2047 is poised to redefine urban mobility. It aims to create more efficient and user-friendly transit experiences for millions of daily commuters.
