Transformers & Rectifiers (India) plans to invest ₹1,250 crore to build three greenfield manufacturing plants in Gujarat. The company intends to establish these facilities at its Chiyada complex to produce critical components for high-voltage transformers.
The new plants will manufacture bushings, pressboard, insulation materials, and continuously transposed conductors. These components are essential for the expansion of India’s power transmission network and the integration of renewable energy sources. The company stated that localising this production will reduce import dependence and improve supply chain resilience for the domestic power equipment sector.
These facilities will operate under a wholly owned consolidated ancillary subsidiary to maintain control over quality and procurement. Construction began in December 2025, and the company expects commercial operations to start in Q1 FY2027-28. Once fully functional, the plants are projected to generate an annual revenue potential of approximately ₹2,000 crore. The project is also expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs in areas including engineering, manufacturing, operations, and research and development.
