The Nifty recorded a close below 24,100. The Sensex registered a decline of 326 points. The Indian Rupee also weakened, settling at 95.76 against the dollar by the close of trade.

Sectoral Performance

Sectoral indices mostly experienced a downturn. The Defence index dropped nearly 1.5%, while the Energy index fell by 1.2%. The IT index stood out as the sole gainer among sectors, posting a rise of 0.7%.

Notable Stock Declines

Several individual stocks saw significant declines. These included J.K. Cement, ABB India, Global Health, Power Grid Corporation, and Suzlon Energy. Further losses were observed in Max Financial Services, Apollo Tyres, Cummins India, NLC India, and Bharat Forge.

Leading Stock Advances

Conversely, a number of stocks managed to post gains by the close. HCL Technologies, Dalmia Bharat, UPL, Supreme Industries, and SBI Cards were among the advancers. Dixon Technologies, Nilkamal, PB Fintech, Billionbrains Garage Ventures, CRISIL, Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar, and Steel Authority of India also closed higher.

Broader Market Trends and IPO Updates

European markets traded flat during the session. The Nifty Defence index concluded a five-day gaining streak, while the BSE Metal index extended its losses for a second consecutive day. Updates were also provided on various Initial Public Offerings, including Horizon Industrial Parks, Gaja Alternative Asset Management, Shankesh Jewellers, Sunshine Pictures, and Lalithaa Jewellery Mart.
