Key Highlights

Moniepoint’s DreamDevs Bootcamp trains young Nigerians in software engineering to combat the projected 85 million global developer shortage by 2030.

Moniepoint Tackles Developer Shortage

Moniepoint is actively addressing a projected global shortage of 85 million software developers by 2030 through its DreamDevs Bootcamp in Nigeria. This initiative, in partnership with Semicolon, is equipping young Nigerians with critical software engineering skills.

DreamDevs Bootcamp Highlights

The intensive program recently graduated its second cohort, showcasing projects across diverse sectors. Key program details include:

  • A 9-week intensive bootcamp.
  • Covers Java Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures & Algorithms, Software Testing, MySQL, Spring Boot APIs, System Design, Docker, Messaging Queues, Frontend User Interface development, and Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Participants receive stipends and mentorship from experienced Moniepoint engineers.
  • Aims to bridge the 85 million global developer gap by 2030.

Strategic Investment in Nigeria’s Digital Economy

Felix Ike, Moniepoint’s Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, emphasized DreamDevs as a structural investment in Nigeria’s digital economy, not solely a recruitment tool. He noted that some first-cohort graduates are already integrated into Moniepoint’s engineering team, proving the high potential of young African engineers. Ike stressed that engineering excellence requires sustained investment in systems, mentorship, resources, and time.

Complementing National Digital Skills

The program complements national digital skill development efforts, such as the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme. Moniepoint aims to address Africa’s engineering talent gap, bolstering the human capital necessary for the continent’s expanding digital economy and infrastructure ambitions.
