India’s primary market gears up for an August IPO surge with over 24 companies aiming to raise ₹35,000 crore, led by fintech giants.

India’s primary market is set for a significant August, with over two dozen companies planning Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) to collectively raise approximately ₹35,000 crore. This follows a robust July, which saw the year’s largest IPO from SBI Funds Management.

New-age companies like PhonePe and Zepto are expected to drive much of this activity. Several other firms also have substantial fundraising targets for the upcoming month.

Key August IPO Targets

  • PhonePe: aiming for around ₹12,000 crore
  • Zepto: targeting ₹8,010 crore
  • Shiprocket: plans to raise ₹2,342.35 crore
  • Truhome Finance: seeking ₹3,000 crore
  • Juniper Green Energy: up to ₹1,800 crore
  • Innovatiview India: targeting ₹2,000 crore
  • Gaja Alternative Asset Management: plans ₹656.2 crore

The IPO market experienced a slowdown in the second quarter of 2026, particularly across April and May. This dip was attributed to geopolitical uncertainties and reduced foreign institutional investment, which increased market volatility.

Recent Market Momentum

  • June saw 7 IPOs raising ₹2,718 crore.
  • July recorded 10 IPOs, garnering ₹26,279 crore.
  • July stands as the strongest month of the year so far for IPO activity.

Investment bankers and legal experts indicate companies are eager to launch in August. This timing allows them to utilize Sebi approvals, which were extended until September, and precede other major upcoming offerings. Firms also aim to avoid the inauspicious ‘shraadh’ period.

The overall IPO pipeline remains robust, with 178 companies already holding Sebi approval to raise about ₹2.9 lakh crore. Another 70 companies are awaiting clearance for ₹1.80 lakh crore, signaling continued strong market activity.
