Key Highlights

Commercial LPG cylinder prices surge by Rs 993, reaching record highs due to escalating global energy costs and geopolitical instability in West Asia.

The price of commercial Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders has reached unprecedented levels, with a recent surge contributing to a substantial increase since 2008. The cost of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has seen a hike of Rs 993, pushing the total increase over the last three months to Rs 1,303.

This significant escalation in commercial LPG prices is primarily attributed to the prevailing global energy market conditions, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The instability in the region has led to a rise in global energy prices, directly impacting the cost of LPG.

In contrast to the commercial sector, domestic LPG cylinder prices have remained unchanged. The distinction in pricing between commercial and domestic cylinders highlights differing market dynamics and subsidy structures.
