Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Slashed by ₹200+ in Delhi, Kolkata

State-run oil marketing companies have announced a significant reduction in the prices of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders in Delhi and Kolkata, effective August 1, 2026. This move provides much-needed relief to businesses such as restaurants, hotels, and catering services.

Key Price Adjustments

• In Delhi, the price of a commercial LPG cylinder has been lowered by ₹202, setting the new cost at ₹2,728 from July’s ₹2,930.
• Kolkata saw prices cut by ₹209, reducing the cost to ₹2,872.50.

This marks the second consecutive monthly price reduction for commercial LPG, partially offsetting substantial increases experienced earlier in the year.

Previous Market Dynamics

• Commercial LPG prices climbed by ₹1,373 per cylinder between February and June.
• Prices reached a record high of ₹3,113.50 during this period.
• These surges were attributed to volatility in global energy markets and geopolitical tensions in West Asia, including the Iran conflict.
• Concerns over supply disruptions in key maritime routes like the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab al-Mandab Strait heightened India’s fuel security concerns.

The recent easing of these geopolitical pressures has enabled oil companies to implement successive price cuts.

Strategic Fuel Security Measures

• The Indian government is actively working to enhance fuel security by diversifying LPG procurement sources.
• This includes increasing imports from markets like the United States.
• Efforts also involve expanding the National Gas Grid and City Gas Distribution networks to reduce long-term dependence on commercial LPG.

This price revision exclusively applies to commercial LPG cylinders; the prices of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders remain unchanged in both Delhi and Kolkata, while aviation fuel (ATF) rates have increased by ₹5 per litre for domestic airlines.
