Coal India Reports 9.2% Rise in September 2026 Production

Coal India posts a 9.2% increase in coal production to 53.5 million tonnes for September 2026, alongside a 12.5% jump in coal offtake.
Coal India has reported a rise of 9.2% in coal production to 53.5 million tonnes (Provisional) during September 2026 as compared to 49.0 million tonnes (Provisional) in September 2025. The world’s largest coal mining company also produced 321.0 million tonnes (Provisional) of coal during the April-September period of 2026, down 2.5% from 329.1 million tonnes (Provisional) during the same period the previous year.
September Off-Take and Progressive Metrics
In September 2026, coal offtake increased by 12.5% to 61.2 million tonnes (Provisional) from 54.4 million tonnes (Provisional) in September 2025. The total offtake of coal during the April-September period of 2026 grew to 384.2 million tonnes (Provisional), up 7.6% from 357.0 million tonnes (Provisional) in the corresponding period last fiscal.
