Chhattisgarh’s cabinet approves a ₹500 crore AI Mission over five years to boost governance, skill development, and the digital economy, aligning with IndiaAI Mission.

The Chhattisgarh cabinet has formally approved a comprehensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) Mission, committing ₹500 crore over five years. This significant investment aims to bolster good governance, foster new technologies, enhance skill development, and accelerate the digital economy across the state.

This initiative aligns directly with the Government of India’s broader IndiaAI Mission, positioning Chhattisgarh as a responsive, innovation-driven, and future-ready digital state. The mission outlines several ambitious targets for its five-year implementation period.

Key AI Mission Objectives

  • Establish 100 AI Data Labs across Chhattisgarh.
  • Create five Centres of Excellence dedicated to AI research and development.
  • Support over 300 AI startups within the state’s ecosystem.
  • Provide AI training to six lakh students and 1.5 lakh government employees.
  • Develop more than 50 AI-enabled public services to improve governance and service delivery.

These measures are designed to integrate artificial intelligence into various facets of public life and administration, streamlining processes and enhancing efficiency for citizens.

Broader Cabinet Decisions for State Development

Beyond the AI Mission, the cabinet also sanctioned several other key development projects and policy adjustments. These decisions touch upon industrial growth, digital infrastructure, and financial management.

Land was approved for allotment at a concessional rate to Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), facilitating Chhattisgarh’s first Heavy Earth Moving Equipment manufacturing plant. This plant is expected to attract substantial investments and generate new employment opportunities within the region.

The first phase of the Works and Account Management Information System (WAMIS) received approval for the Public Works Department. This system aims to digitise the management of construction projects, integrating processes from initial approval through to quality monitoring.
