Chennai Super Kings’ FY26 net profit fell 11% to Rs 16,163.48 lakh, impacted by lower IPL 2025 finish and reduced Central Rights income, despite operational revenue growth.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recorded an 11% decline in net profit for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, dropping to Rs 16,163.48 lakh from Rs 18,094.22 lakh in the previous year. This downturn occurred despite a rise in operational revenue.

Revenue Dynamics Shift

Total revenue for CSK saw a slight decrease to Rs 63,646.08 lakh, down from Rs 64,399.98 lakh in the prior period. Operational revenue, however, increased, reaching Rs 62,211.84 lakh compared to Rs 61,547.95 lakh previously.

Central Rights income fell by Rs 3,806.03 lakh, settling at Rs 43,043.38 lakh. This reduction is directly attributed to CSK’s tenth-place finish in IPL 2025, a significant drop from their fifth-place standing in IPL 2024. The impact was partially offset by growth in sponsorship and other tournament-related income streams.

Other Income and Expenditure Details

Other income also experienced a decline, moving to Rs 1,434.24 lakh from Rs 2,852.03 lakh. This was primarily due to a reduction in interest income as surplus funds were strategically redeployed from inter-corporate deposits to mutual funds.

Total expenses for the team increased by Rs 1,781.98 lakh, driven by higher operational costs aligning with revenue growth. Increased employee benefits due to expanded full-time resources also contributed to this rise.

The total comprehensive income for the year stood at Rs 16,158.69 lakh, down from Rs 18,091.22 lakh in the preceding year.

Future Outlook and Governance

Despite not qualifying for the knockouts in Season XIX of the Indian Premier League, which ran from March 28 to May 31, 2026, Chennai Super Kings maintains an optimistic outlook regarding its future performance. The annual general meeting is scheduled for September 25, where N Srinivasan will chair the proceedings.
