Shanti Ekambaram’s Extensive Financial Expertise
Ms. Ekambaram, aged 63, brings a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades in the financial services sector. A significant portion of this experience, 35 years, was spent at Kotak Mahindra Bank.
- Served as Deputy Managing Director and Whole-time Director at Kotak Mahindra Bank until 2025.
- Headed Kotak Mahindra Capital Company, where she pioneered India’s first book-building IPO.
- Her professional expertise encompasses digital banking, treasury operations, human resources, and internal audit.
She currently holds additional directorships at Havells India Limited, Kotak Securities Limited, and Kotak Mahindra Capital Company Limited. This breadth of experience highlights her deep understanding of corporate governance and financial markets.
Her Role and Remuneration at Torrent Pharmaceuticals
Upon shareholder confirmation, Ms. Ekambaram will assume key responsibilities within Torrent Pharmaceuticals. She is slated to join three crucial committees:
- The Audit Committee.
- The Securities Transfer and Stakeholders Relationship Committee.
- The Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Notably, she is not subject to retirement by rotation under the Companies Act, 2013, reflecting her independent director status. She holds no shares in Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited and has no familial ties to other directors or key managerial personnel.
