Understanding the Scope of Data Collection

The Rural Consumer Confidence Survey is reaching households across 31 states and union territories.
What the Surveys Measure

The surveys focus on the following categories:
The Inflation Expectations Survey of Households captures subjective assessments on price movements and inflation based on individual consumption baskets.
The Urban and Rural Consumer Confidence Surveys seek responses on:
The general economic situation, employment scenario, price levels, household income, and spending habits.

The Role in Policy Formulation
The Reserve Bank of India stated that the findings from these surveys will provide useful inputs for its monetary policy decisions. By gathering direct sentiment from households, the central bank gains insight into how individuals perceive their economic reality and future financial stability.
