Anthropic Eyes $2 Trillion IPO, Aims to Surpass SpaceX
By ThePip Desk
AI startup Anthropic is targeting a staggering $2 trillion valuation for its IPO, potentially breaking SpaceX’s record and projecting $47 billion in annual revenue.
Artificial intelligence startup Anthropic is reportedly targeting a valuation of $2 trillion in its upcoming market debut. This move could see the company raise ‘more than $100 billion’ from investors, potentially eclipsing SpaceX’s record-setting IPO.
Valuation Targets Soar
SpaceX, Elon Musk’s space company, went public in June at a value of $1.77 trillion, raising $85.7 billion. Anthropic’s bankers have informed potential investors the AI firm expects to match or beat this deal’s size.
- SpaceX IPO Value: $1.77 trillion
- SpaceX Funds Raised: $85.7 billion
- Anthropic Projected Raise: more than $100 billion
- Anthropic Potential Valuation: $2 trillion
- Anthropic Previous Valuation (June): $965 billion
- Anthropic Projected Annual Revenue: $47 billion
A $2 trillion valuation would more than double Anthropic’s previous $965 billion valuation from its last funding round in June. Only a few companies, including Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia, have surpassed the $2 trillion mark.
Operational Hurdles
Founded in 2021 by Dario and Daniela Amodei, former OpenAI executives, Anthropic has positioned itself as a safety-focused alternative in the AI space. Its Claude AI models and Claude Code assistant have contributed to a projected annual revenue of $47 billion.
Despite commercial success, Anthropic faces challenges with computing power demand due to a shortage of chips and servers. The company also has a strained relationship with President Donald Trump’s administration.
In March, the government reportedly broke off contracts with Anthropic, designating it a supply chain risk. This followed Anthropic’s refusal to grant the military unfettered access to its AI models, a move the company called unconstitutional retaliation.
Anthropic filed to go public in June, with its public offering prospectus potentially revealed in the coming weeks and shares listed in the autumn. This could allow Anthropic to beat OpenAI, which hopes to list its shares in 2027, to market.
