By Business DeskAndhra Pradesh’s Swarna Andhra @2047: Amaravati’s Tech Future

Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh unveils ‘Swarna Andhra @2047,’ a vision to transform Amaravati into a global, tech-driven city with decentralized growth.

Nara Lokesh, the IT, Electronics and Education Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has outlined his comprehensive vision for “Swarna Andhra @2047,” a plan that includes the ambitious development of Amaravati into a world-class city.

This strategy draws upon his extensive background, including education at institutions like Carnegie Mellon and Stanford, and professional experience at global organizations such as DaimlerChrysler and the World Bank.

A Blueprint for Decentralized Tech Growth

Lokesh is implementing a modern, decentralized approach to foster tech-led growth across Andhra Pradesh. This strategy builds on the successful model pioneered in Hyderabad by his father, N. Chandrababu Naidu, but adapts it for contemporary economic conditions.

The minister aims to achieve in one decade what took Hyderabad 30 years, citing accelerated global development cycles. The focus is on creating multiple specialized corridors and 22 distinct industrial clusters throughout the state.

These corridors will concentrate on:

• Electronics

• Defence

• Quantum technology

• Spacetech

• Deeptech

Amaravati: India’s Next World-Class City

The vision for Amaravati details a greenfield, world-class city, meticulously planned with state-of-the-art infrastructure. Positioned strategically between Vijayawada and Guntur, this new capital is designed to host advanced ecosystems.

Amaravati aims to incorporate:

• Quantum computing facilities

• Modern hotels

• Advanced hospitals

Lokesh stated that Amaravati is envisioned to be a city unlike any other seen in India, setting a new benchmark for urban development.

Transforming Andhra Pradesh’s Education Sector

Significant advancements have also been reported in the education sector over the past two years. Approximately 106,000 students have transitioned from private to government schools, a notable achievement attributed to ongoing structural reforms.

Key educational reforms include:

• Increasing primary schools with a one-class-one-teacher model from 3% to 33%.

• Strategic teacher recruitment initiatives.

To ensure accountability, an in-house developed dashboard with 27 key performance indicators (KPIs) monitors performance from headmasters to the ministerial level. Additionally, the “Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh (LEAP)” app facilitates communication and data sharing between parents and teachers, providing insights into attendance and mid-day meal quality.

These initiatives have resulted in a consistent 7.5-8% year-on-year improvement in pass percentages within government schools, demonstrating the tangible impact of the reforms.

The comprehensive strategy underscores a commitment to accelerated development across multiple critical sectors for Andhra Pradesh’s future.
