AMFI Re-elects Sundeep Sikka & Vishal Kapoor as Leaders

Sundeep Sikka and Vishal Kapoor have been re-elected Chairman and Vice Chairman of AMFI, continuing their leadership in India’s mutual fund sector.
The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) has unanimously re-elected Sundeep Sikka as its Chairman and Vishal Kapoor as Vice Chairman. This decision, following the industry’s Annual General Meeting, ensures their continued leadership in the mutual fund sector.
AMFI functions as the principal industry body for all asset management companies officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
Sikka’s Extensive Industry Tenure
Sundeep Sikka brings over 30 years of experience within financial services to his role. He joined Nippon Life India Asset Management in 2003, ascending to CEO in 2009, making him one of the youngest CEOs in India’s mutual fund industry at the time.

Sikka is currently serving his second term as AMFI Chairman. His involvement extends to various industry committees and bodies, including CII, FICCI, and IFSCA, and he is an alumnus of Harvard Business School.
Kapoor’s Focus on Growth and Digital Adoption
Vishal Kapoor also contributes more than three decades of experience across financial services, encompassing both asset management and banking. As CEO of Bandhan AMC, he prioritizes the organization’s expansion through several key initiatives.

Before his tenure at Bandhan AMC, Kapoor held significant positions, including Managing Director and Head of Wealth Management at Standard Chartered Bank. He also worked at American Express and ITC Threadneedle AMC, contributing significantly to India’s wealth management sector.
Kapoor actively participates in regulatory working groups and chairs AMFI’s Standing Committee for Mutual Fund Distributors. He holds a management degree from IIM Ahmedabad and a Bachelor’s degree from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata.
