Amazon CEO Andy Jassy revealed that the company’s quick commerce platform in India, Amazon Now, is experiencing a 25% month-on-month growth in orders. Prime members are also tripling their shopping frequency.

Amazon’s quick commerce service in India, known as Amazon Now, is experiencing significant growth, with orders increasing by 25% month-on-month, according to Amazon CEO Andrew Jassy. During the company’s first-quarter earnings call, Jassy highlighted that subscription-tier (Prime) users in India have tripled their shopping frequency since adopting Amazon Now.

The ultrafast delivery service, which offers delivery in 30 minutes or less on a wide range of items, was initially launched in India last year. Amazon has since expanded the service to nine countries, including the UAE, Mexico, Egypt, and the UK, with plans for further global rollout.

This expansion is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to scale its quick commerce operations in India. The company recently announced plans to extend Amazon Now to 100 cities across the country, including major urban centers like Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, and Jaipur. To support this growth, Amazon aims to increase its network of micro-fulfillment centers (MFCs) to over 1,000 facilities in India. This initiative is backed by a ₹2,800 Cr (approximately $300 million) investment announced by Amazon India, primarily allocated to bolstering quick commerce and logistics capabilities.

Amazon’s push into the quick commerce market places it in direct competition with established players such as Blinkit, Swiggy’s Instamart, Zepto, and Flipkart Minutes. While Amazon entered the ultrafast delivery segment relatively recently, its competitors have been operating in this space for several years. Currently, Amazon Now operates out of approximately 300 MFCs across Delhi NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. In comparison, Blinkit leads the market with over 2,200 dark stores, Instamart operates more than 1,100, and Flipkart Minutes has expanded to 800 dark stores.

The quick commerce market in India is projected to become a substantial $40 billion opportunity by 2030. On a separate note, Jassy also mentioned the expansion of Amazon’s AI-powered advertising tool, CreativeAgent, to India, which assists in the ad creative process. Amazon reported a total revenue of $181.5 billion for the quarter ending March 2026, marking a 17% year-over-year increase, with net income rising 77% year-over-year to $30.3 billion. This net income figure includes pre-tax gains of $16.8 billion from investments in Anthropic.
