Adani Energy Solutions secures a Rs 4,700 crore Maharashtra transmission project, boosting renewable energy evacuation and pumped storage infrastructure.

Adani Energy Solutions has secured a significant transmission project in Maharashtra, valued at an estimated Rs 4,700 crore. This strategic win, achieved through a Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process where the company emerged as the lowest bidder, marks a critical expansion in its infrastructure portfolio.

The project is designed to facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy generated in Karnataka, directing it towards major load centers within Maharashtra. Furthermore, it will provide essential support for the expanding pumped storage ecosystem across the Satara, Pune, and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

Strategic Infrastructure Expansion

Operating under the special purpose vehicle (SPV) Satara Power Transmission, this initiative is slated for completion and delivery within 36 months. The project signifies Adani Energy Solutions’ commitment to bolstering India’s power transmission capabilities, particularly for green energy integration.

Upon its completion, the project will substantially augment the company’s existing network. This includes adding new transmission lines and transformation capacity, further solidifying its position in the energy sector.

  • Project Value: Rs 4,700 crore
  • Completion Timeline: 36 months
  • New Transmission Lines: 562 circuit kilometres (ckm)
  • New Transformation Capacity: 9,000 MVA

These additions will increase Adani Energy Solutions’ cumulative transmission network to 29,739 ckm and its transformation capacity to 1,43,425 MVA. The scope of work encompasses several key components essential for robust grid operation.

  • Establishment of a 765/400 kV substation at Satara
  • Construction of a Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line
  • Augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station
  • Development of associated transmission infrastructure

Connecting the Green Energy Grid

This project is more than just an expansion; it represents a crucial link in India’s evolving green energy infrastructure. By connecting renewable generation in Karnataka to high-demand areas in Maharashtra, Adani Energy Solutions (formerly Adani Transmission) is directly contributing to the nation’s energy transition goals.

The focus on supporting pumped storage capabilities also highlights a forward-thinking approach to grid stability and energy storage, crucial for intermittent renewable sources. This strategic investment by the Adani Group’s transmission arm underscores its role in enabling a more sustainable and resilient power supply across Western India.
