India’s Near-Space Ambitions

Red Balloon Aerospace, a spacetech startup from Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, is developing a near-space infrastructure layer. Their focus includes stratospheric airships, aerostats, and super-pressure balloons.

  • Flagship platform: HELIX, an autonomous stratospheric airship for sustained near-space operations.
  • Testing: Launched VISTA, a super-pressure balloon, in May to test core subsystems for HELIX.
  • Challenge Addressed: Limited access to near-space testing facilities within India.

Unseen Labor, Real Costs

A report by Arya.ag, “Her Harvest 2026,” highlights the significant economic cost of women’s invisible work in Indian agriculture. This unacknowledged labor costs the country between Rs 1.2 lakh crore and Rs 2 lakh crore annually in agricultural output.

  • Engagement: 64% of working women and nearly 77% of rural working women are involved in agriculture.
  • Visibility Gap: Despite their increasing share of work, women often lack official recognition, financing, and support.
  • Proposed Solutions: Leveraging modern tools like storage, warehouse financing, technology, and farmer producer organizations.
