Opening Bell: Nifty Opens Above 22,450, Auto and IT Stocks Lead | 12 May 2026

The opening tone is positive, building on yesterday’s gains. FII selling pressure continues, offset by strong DII buying in the last four sessions.

The Nifty 50 opened above yesterday’s close at 22450.50. The Sensex is also mirroring this positive sentiment. Market breadth shows 0 of 50 stocks advancing in early trade, indicating a narrow opening session.

The rally is led by the Auto sector, up +2.10%, and IT, up +1.80%. Tata Motors is a standout gainer, up +2.11%. FIIs have been net sellers for the last four sessions, with the most recent outflow at ₹4110 cr, countered by DII buying of ₹6748 cr.
