The NIFTY 50 closed at 22450.50, gaining +120 points, a +0.54% increase. The SENSEX closed at 73850.00, up +381 points, representing a +0.52% rise. In contrast, the BANK NIFTY declined by -85 points to close at 47320.00, a -0.18% decrease. The NIFTY MIDCAP 50 gained +98 points, closing at 13240.00, a +0.75% increase, while the NIFTY SMLCAP 100 closed at 16820.00, down -142 points, a -0.84% decrease. Market breadth was positive, with 31 advances and 19 declines, resulting in 62.0% of stocks advancing. The top-performing sector was Auto, up +2.10%, led by TATAMOTORS. IT followed, gaining +1.80%, with TCS as the top performer. The FMCG sector was down -0.50%, with HINDUNILVR performing worst. Banking was also down -0.30%, with SBIN performing worst.
The top gainer was Reliance Industries (RELIANCE), closing at ₹2850, a +3.45% increase. Tata Motors (TATAMOTORS) followed, closing at ₹870, up +2.11%. Wipro (WIPRO) closed at ₹520, a +2.36% gain. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) closed at ₹3950, up +2.07%, and HDFC Bank (HDFCBANK) closed at ₹1620, a +1.89% increase. The top loser was Infosys (INFY), closing at ₹1490, -2.49%. State Bank of India (SBIN) closed at ₹785, -2.24%. Hindustan Unilever (HINDUNILVR) closed at ₹2340, -1.85%. NTPC (NTPC) closed at ₹360, -1.64% and ONGC (ONGC) closed at ₹270, -1.46%. On May 8th, FIIs net sold ₹4,110 cr, while DIIs net bought ₹6,748 cr. NIFTY May 2025 futures are at ₹22480.00 with an OI of 1,25,00,000, while BANKNIFTY May 2025 futures are at ₹47290.00 with an OI of 58,00,000.
