The Nifty 50 closed at 22,450.5, up 120.3 points, a +0.54% gain. The day’s range was 22,510–22,310, indicating a relatively tight trading band. The Sensex closed at 73,850.0, a gain of 380.5 points. The Bank Nifty diverged, closing down 85 points, a -0.18% decline, at 47,320. 31 of 50 Nifty stocks advanced. Market breadth suggests a moderately broad-based rally. The Nifty Midcap 50 outperformed, up +0.75%, while the Nifty SMLCAP 100 lagged, down -0.84%.
The IT sector led the gains, up +1.80%, with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as the top performer. The Auto sector also contributed significantly, rising +2.10%, spearheaded by Tata Motors. Reliance Industries was the top gainer, closing at ₹2,850, up +3.45%. Infosys was the biggest loser, closing at ₹1,490, down -2.49%. FIIs were net sellers at ₹4,110 cr, while DIIs bought ₹6,748 cr. This continues the recent trend of FII selling offset by DII buying.
