Indian electric motor car exports saw a significant surge in the first quarter of 2026-27, with Europe emerging as the leading destination. Spain became the largest individual market, accounting for nearly 40% of total exports.

The United Kingdom secured its position as the second-largest market for Indian electric motor cars. Imports into the UK reached $78.7 million during Q1FY27, a substantial increase from almost negligible shipments in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

Diverse European Demand

Beyond Spain and the UK, several other European nations demonstrated robust growth in demand for Indian electric vehicles, according to the Commerce Ministry data.

  • Belgium: $12.9 million
  • Netherlands: $12 million
  • Greece: $3.8 million
  • Italy: $2.7 million
  • Sweden: $2.1 million

This significant uptick in exports highlights the increasing global acceptance of India-manufactured electric vehicles. It also underscores India’s evolving role as a crucial manufacturing hub for sustainable mobility solutions on the international stage.
