Yotta Data Eyes $1.5B India IPO for Cloud Expansion
By ThePip Desk
Yotta Data Services pivots to an Indian IPO, aiming to raise $1.5 billion by FY2027 to fuel aggressive expansion and AI infrastructure growth.
Yotta Data Services is ditching its U.S. IPO plans, now eyeing a domestic listing in India. The Mumbai-based firm targets a total capital raise of $1.5 billion by the end of fiscal year 2027.
- $1.5 billion: Total fundraising target by FY2027
- $400 million: Expected IPO component
- $150 million: Secured pre-IPO funding from high-net-worth individuals and family offices
This strategic shift towards an Indian IPO is driven by Yotta’s focus on the sovereign cloud business. Its entire infrastructure build-out is domestic, with the Indian government serving as a significant customer.
Aggressive Expansion & AI Focus
The new funding will fuel an aggressive expansion strategy. Yotta plans to scale its installed data center capacity significantly in the coming years.
- 180MW to 800MW: Data center capacity increase target by 2029
- 37,000 to 85,000: High-performance computing chips inventory increase within current fiscal year
A substantial portion of the capital is earmarked for procuring Nvidia chips and necessary infrastructure to support rising artificial intelligence (AI) computing demands.
Competitive Landscape & Investor Outlook
Despite increasing demand for high-speed computing and domestic data storage, the sector faces intense competition. Yotta is up against major players making significant investments.
- Adani
- Reliance Industries
- Nxtra
- CtrlS
This is a capital-intensive business, demanding continuous large-scale spending on construction and specialized AI hardware. Success hinges on maintaining high data center utilization and managing rapid technological shifts and regulatory approval timelines. Further financial transparency is expected when Yotta files its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) with SEBI.
