Yamato Transport, Japan’s largest delivery firm, partners with India’s DX AI policy, blending 100+ years of logistics expertise with India’s digital transformation by 2027.

Yamato Transport Company, Japan’s largest delivery service, is poised for substantial contributions to Indian society as India and Japan prepare to mark 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2027. This strategic move involves merging Yamato’s refined “analogue” operational expertise with India’s advanced DX AI policy.

Yamato’s Expanding Indian Footprint

Yamato initiated its operations in India in 2008, establishing a significant logistics center in Sidhrawali, Haryana. This facility plays a crucial role in managing industrial products for multiple regions.

  • The Sidhrawali facility spans 260,000 square feet.
  • It primarily serves India, Africa, and the Middle East.
  • The center employs more than 300 Indian personnel.

Managing Director Daisuke Ito of YAMATO LOGISTIC INDIA emphasized the company’s proactive engagement with Indian businesses, offering enhanced supply chain solutions and secure packing techniques derived from its extensive Japanese expertise.

Cultivating Human Capital and Digital Synergy

To align with Indian societal practices, Yamato has integrated the Government’s ‘Craftsman Training Scheme,’ focusing on both theoretical and practical development.

  • The training program includes three weeks of classroom instruction.
  • It applies the Japanese 5S policy: Sort, Set, Shine, Standardise, and Sustain, embodying the ‘Kaizen’ tradition.
  • Exceptional Indian employees will have the opportunity to visit Yamato’s headquarters in Japan.

Ito further articulated the synergy between Yamato’s human-centric “analogue” operational skills, honed through continuous improvement, and India’s DX AI technology. This integration aims to transform “implicit knowledge” into “formalization” for comprehensive management.

Supporting India’s Infrastructure Ambitions

Yamato is also actively supporting the Indian government’s ‘Gati Shakti’ digital plan. This national initiative seeks to upgrade critical infrastructure like roads and railways, thereby fostering a modern transportation and delivery network across India.

Indian Deputy General Director Manish Sheoran praised Yamato’s “profound job policy,” noting its depth when compared to other Indian companies.

The strategic convergence of Yamato’s century-old operational rigor with India’s digital ambition and infrastructure development highlights a significant commitment, reinforcing bilateral ties and contributing to local economic growth.
