WeWork Global, through its affiliate 1 Ariel Way Tenant Ltd, divested a 2.5% stake in flexible workspace operator WeWork India Management for Rs 244 crore on Friday, August 14, 2026. This significant transaction occurred via open market block deals on the BSE.

The sale involved offloading 35 lakh equity shares across five tranches at an average price of Rs 697.55 apiece. Following this divestment, 1 Ariel Way Tenant Ltd’s holding in WeWork India Management decreased from 14.82% to 12.3%, though WeWork Global remains the largest public shareholder.

A consortium of institutional investors, including Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company Ltd PMS, Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund, ICICI Prudential MF, HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company Ltd, and Citigroup Global Markets Mauritius, acquired an equal number of shares at the stipulated price. Shares of WeWork India Management consequently experienced a 1.57% decline, concluding the trading day at Rs 707.80 apiece on the BSE.

WeWork India’s Financial Performance

WeWork India reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 4.30 crore for the first quarter of the current fiscal year, an improvement from a net loss of Rs 14.10 crore in the year-ago period. The company’s total income for the April-June quarter of this fiscal year surged to Rs 700.74 crore, up from Rs 545.71 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding year.

Established in 2017, WeWork India operates as a joint venture between the US-based WeWork Inc, known as WeWork Global, and the Embassy Group. WeWork Inc had previously initiated efforts to divest its entire India stake following its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in the United States.

Currently, WeWork India is majority-owned and promoted by the Embassy Group and holds the exclusive license for the WeWork brand within the country. WeWork Global, despite the recent divestment, maintains its position as the largest public shareholder through its arm.
