Starbucks is eliminating over 200 corporate positions as CEO Brian Niccol continues his strategy to streamline operations and enhance financial performance.
Key Restructuring Numbers
- Total corporate positions eliminated: over 200
- Seattle-based roles impacted due to relocation refusal: 120
- Positions cut from organizational changes announced in May: 104
- New Nashville regional office investment: $100 million
- Expected employees at Nashville office: around 2,000
The job cuts are part of a broader organizational restructuring. This follows an earlier announcement to reduce approximately 300 corporate roles.
Relocation and Timeline
About 120 of the affected positions are support team employees who declined to relocate from Seattle, Washington, to Nashville, Tennessee. An additional 104 roles are being eliminated due to organizational changes revealed in May.
First employee separations are set to begin on October 19, 2026. All affected positions are scheduled for elimination by November 1.
This restructuring is a core component of Niccol’s turnaround strategy, initiated after he became Starbucks CEO in September 2024. The plan focuses on simplifying the corporate structure and boosting operational efficiency. These specific cuts target corporate staff and will not impact workers in Starbucks coffeehouses.
