Sophos reports a remarkable 60% growth in its India business for FY26, significantly outpacing the domestic market and establishing India as its top global growth market.

Global cybersecurity major Sophos saw its India business surge by 60% in the last financial year (FY26), dramatically outperforming the domestic market’s 15% growth rate. This remarkable expansion has cemented India’s position as Sophos’ leading growth market globally and its largest contributor within Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) operations.

Key Growth & Operational Numbers

  • Sophos India Business Growth (FY26): 60%
  • Overall Domestic Market Growth: 15%
  • Sophos Global Employees: 5,500
  • Sophos India Employees: 1,500

Gavin Struthers, Senior Vice President Asia-Pacific & Japan at Sophos, attributed this substantial achievement to a pronounced increase in cyber resilience awareness among organizations. He also noted the significant impact of evolving regulatory frameworks, including the implementation of the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act.

Navigating the Cybersecurity Poverty Line

Struthers introduced the crucial concept of a “cybersecurity poverty line,” characterizing organizations that lack adequate Money, Expertise, Capability, and Influence (MESI) to effectively manage their digital defenses. He highlighted that even large organizations equipped with Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) can fall below this threshold.

This vulnerability often stems from a lack of operational expertise or insufficient influence over their entire technological environment, particularly concerning complex third-party and supply chain risks. These external dependencies are consistently ranked among the top five challenges for CISOs operating in India.

  • Top CISO Challenges in India:
    • Third-party risks
    • Supply chain risks
  • Primary Threat Vector: Identity-based attacks
  • India’s Phishing Incident Rank: Second-highest globally

Furthermore, Struthers emphasized that ransomware should fundamentally be considered an identity-based problem, rather than solely a technical one. The proliferation of artificial intelligence has only intensified this threat, making sophisticated phishing attacks increasingly difficult for organizations to detect and mitigate.

Sophos’ strategic focus on India, bolstered by its significant employee base and the country’s growing regulatory emphasis on data protection, underscores its pivotal role in the company’s global trajectory. This robust performance establishes India as a critical driver for future cybersecurity innovation and market leadership.
