Putin Admits Ukraine Refinery Strikes Cause Economic Damage

By ThePip DeskPutin Admits Ukraine Refinery Strikes Cause Economic Damage

Vladimir Putin acknowledges Ukraine’s refinery attacks have caused economic damage, but insists they haven’t altered the conflict’s trajectory. Reciprocal strikes intensify.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has acknowledged that Ukrainian attacks targeting the nation’s refineries and critical infrastructure have inflicted economic damage and losses. Despite this impact, Putin maintained these strikes have not created a ‘turning point’ in the ongoing conflict.

Reciprocal Strikes Intensify Infrastructure Targets

The Russian President’s remarks come amidst continued exchanges of strikes between both sides, with each targeting the other’s vital logistical and industrial assets. Ukraine has focused its efforts on oil refineries and warehouses located deep within Russian territory.

  • Ukrainian drones recently barraged Rosneft PJSC’s Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery.
  • Another drone attack targeted an Ozon Holdings warehouse in Russia’s Samara region.
  • Since mid-July, Ukraine has increasingly targeted Russian warehouses, affecting major e-commerce entities like Wildberries.

Conversely, Russia has launched strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure, including logistics centers and port facilities. A recent Russian ‘double-tap’ drone attack on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih reportedly caused numerous casualties.

Negotiation Stance and Grain Export Assurances

Putin also reiterated Russia’s willingness for negotiations to resolve the conflict, but only on the condition of accepting ‘realities on the ground.’ He dismissed Ukrainian peace proposals as either ‘unacceptable’ or ‘exotic’ in their current form.

Furthermore, the Russian leader addressed concerns regarding global food security by vowing to resolve issues related to Russian grain exports. Putin committed to ensuring that these exports would not lead to a shortage in the global grain market.
