Pride Hotels Eyes Rs 1,000 Cr IPO for Expansion
By Business Desk
Pride Hotels gears up for a Rs 1,000 crore IPO by December to fuel aggressive expansion, aiming to double its property portfolio to 72 hotels in two years.
Pride Hotels is set to launch its Initial Public Offering (IPO) by December, aiming to raise approximately Rs 1,000 crore. This funding will fuel extensive expansion plans across various segments, including leisure, wedding, corporate events, and pilgrimage destinations, as stated by CEO Satyen Jain.
The hospitality chain has aggressively grown its portfolio, opening nine new properties in the past year. This brings their current total to 40 hotels, with eight owned and 32 managed properties.
Key Expansion Figures
- IPO Target: Rs 1,000 crore
- Current Portfolio: 40 hotels
- Secured Contracts: 32 additional hotels
- Target Portfolio: 72 properties within 18 to 24 months
- Fresh Issue: Rs 260 crore
- Offer for Sale: Up to 3.92 crore shares by promoters
Pride Hotels plans to expand in four core areas. These include deepening its presence in existing markets, targeting large wedding and MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition) hotels, venturing into new leisure destinations, and growing its footprint in pilgrimage sites.
Pilgrimage spots are seen as particularly attractive due to their strong potential for repeat business. Puri is specifically identified as a promising market drawing both religious and wedding-related travel.
Funding Allocation and New Ventures
The IPO, which received Sebi approval in January 2026 after preliminary papers were filed in October 2025, includes a fresh issue of shares worth Rs 260 crore. An offer for sale of up to 3.92 crore shares by promoters is also part of the plan.
Funds from the IPO will be allocated towards capital expenditure for renovating existing hotels, repaying debt, and general corporate purposes. The company also intends to increase the proportion of owned properties within its portfolio.
Currently focused on the upscale segment, Pride Hotels is considering the launch of a new boutique upper-upscale brand named Pride Lux. This move aligns with anticipated growth in leisure travel, driven by rising per-capita income and improved connectivity.
Operational Challenges and Future Outlook
Despite the positive expansion outlook, the company faces rising operating costs, with gas and electricity expenses increasing by 8-9 percent. Investments in wind and solar power, alongside energy-efficient equipment like chillers, are being made to mitigate these costs.
Chairman and Managing Director S P Jain noted that licensing remains a significant hurdle for the hospitality industry, often causing delays in hotel openings. Pride Hotels maintains its focus on the domestic market for now, with potential future exploration of international markets with substantial Indian traveler traffic.
