NSE IPO: India’s Record $55 Billion Stock Exchange Listing
By Business Desk
National Stock Exchange of India eyes a record $55B IPO, aiming to raise ₹315B. Delayed to late September, it targets major global investors.
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) is targeting a valuation of up to $55 billion (₹5.26 trillion) for its upcoming initial public offering. This move aims to raise approximately ₹315 billion by offering a 6% stake, positioning it as India’s largest IPO to date.
The IPO’s launch, initially set for early August, has been delayed by approximately three weeks and is now expected in the second half of September. This delay stems from modifications to the selling shareholder list, notably the inclusion of SBI Capital Markets Ltd., which requires a 21-day public feedback period.
Investor Engagement and Market Positioning
NSE engaged around 120 major international investors during global roadshows, marketing shares at ₹2,000 to ₹2,100 apiece. These roadshows took place in key financial hubs including Boston, New York, San Francisco, London, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
- Prominent investors included BlackRock Inc., Capital Group, GQG Partners, Janus Henderson Group Plc, and Allspring Global Investments.
- Achieving the $55 billion valuation would make NSE the sixth-largest global exchange operator by market value.
- It would place NSE just behind London Stock Exchange Group Plc and ahead of Nasdaq Inc.
- Currently, CME Group Inc. leads with about $97 billion, followed by Intercontinental Exchange Inc. at about $86.9 billion.
