Nikhil Kamath and Sreeram Reddy Vanga invest a combined ₹250 crore in CtrlS Datacenters to expand AI-ready data center infrastructure across India.

Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath and entrepreneur Sreeram Reddy Vanga have collectively injected Rs 250 crore into CtrlS Datacenters. This capital infusion targets the expansion of data centre infrastructure and increased capacity across India.

Investment Breakdown

  • Nikhil Kamath contributed Rs 200 crore.
  • Sreeram Reddy Vanga invested Rs 50 crore.

The funds will specifically bolster CtrlS’s data centre infrastructure, developing specialized capacity designed for AI workloads. This move directly responds to the accelerating demand for computing resources driven by artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and various digital workloads.

Strategic Vision for India’s Digital Future

Nikhil Kamath highlighted data centres as pivotal for major technological shifts like AI, cloud, and digital public infrastructure. He emphasized the critical need for India’s digital infrastructure to evolve without becoming a bottleneck to adoption.

Sreeram Reddy Vanga noted that India’s AI and cloud computing aspirations require large-scale digital infrastructure development. CtrlS founder and CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy stated the investment enables accelerated expansion and the development of advanced data centre platforms for India’s next digital growth phase.

CtrlS Capacity and Prior Funding

CtrlS, founded by Pinnapureddy, currently operates 19 hyperscale data centres. These facilities are spread across nine major Indian markets, boasting over 370 MW of capacity.

This latest funding round follows a significant commitment from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments) in June. CPP Investments pledged up to Rs 7,000 crore, which included a Rs 4,000-crore investment for an 8.2% stake and a proposed Rs 3,000-crore joint venture.
