By ThePip Desk
Manipal Health Enterprises reports a 31% surge in adjusted Q1 profit to ₹3.32 billion, driven by strong demand for complex care and increased occupancy.
Indian hospital operator Manipal Health Enterprises posted a significant 31% increase in its adjusted first-quarter profit after tax, reaching 3.32 billion rupees ($34.69 million) for the period ending June 30. This growth follows robust demand for complex medical procedures and increased hospital occupancy rates.
Key Q1 Financials
- Adjusted Q1 Profit After Tax: 3.32 billion rupees ($34.69 million)
- Total Quarterly Revenue: 30.91 billion rupees
- Revenue Growth: 38.1% year-over-year
The company’s overall quarterly revenue surged by 38.1% to 30.91 billion rupees, propelled by higher patient volumes and a strategic focus on high-value specialty procedures. This marks Manipal Health’s first financial report since its $960 million initial public offering in July.
Profit Decline Amid Acquisition Costs
Despite the strong adjusted profit, Manipal Health’s consolidated net profit saw a 7.5% decline, falling to 2.32 billion rupees compared to the previous year. This decrease is primarily attributed to costs associated with the acquisition of Sahyadri Hospitals.
- Consolidated Net Profit Decline: 7.5% to 2.32 billion rupees
- Quarterly Expenses: Rose 47.4% year-over-year to 28.35 billion rupees
Managing Director and CEO Dileep Jose highlighted that the integration of Maharashtra-based Sahyadri Hospitals, in which Manipal Health secured a majority stake in late 2025, remains a top priority. This strategy aims to leverage an expanded network and achieve greater operational scale.
Jose also noted that the recent IPO provides enhanced flexibility for strategic investments in capacity, technology, and clinical excellence. These investments will proceed while maintaining disciplined capital allocation, even as quarterly expenses climbed by 47.4% year-over-year to 28.35 billion rupees due to increased purchases of pharmacy items and other operational expenditures.
