Maharashtra FDA Suspends MCA BKC Clubhouse Food License

Maharashtra FDA suspends Mumbai Cricket Association’s BKC clubhouse food license due to unlicensed subleasing, halting all F&B services. Other facilities remain open.
The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food business license for the Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) Bandra-Kurla Complex clubhouse. This action immediately halts all food and beverage services at the facility.
The suspension follows an inspection revealing that the MCA allegedly subleased its food operations. This arrangement involved Shirke Infrastructure, an entity operating without a proper license, thereby breaching the conditions of MCA’s own license.
Consequently, all dining and refreshment options within the MCA Club BKC are now indefinitely closed. This includes the various eateries, bars, and general food and beverage services.
However, other recreational amenities at the complex remain fully operational for members. These include:
- Tennis courts
- Badminton courts
- Swimming pool
- Gymnasium
Statewide Regulatory Enforcement
This specific action against the MCA forms part of a wider enforcement drive by the FDA across Maharashtra. The administration recently conducted comprehensive inspections targeting numerous establishments.
The recent statewide initiative by the FDA yielded significant results:
- 89 establishments were inspected across Maharashtra.
- 71 received official improvement letters.
- 13 had their food business licenses suspended.
Notably, the Cricket Club of India’s (CCI) canteen also faced regulatory action last month. Its license was revoked due to severe hygiene violations, including cockroach infestations and improper food handling practices.
These actions collectively underscore a heightened regulatory focus on ensuring food safety and adherence to licensing protocols within Mumbai and across Maharashtra.
