India’s IT and ITeS exports surged past ₹7.73 lakh crore in FY 2025-26, driven by the Software Technology Park Scheme. Karnataka leads growth.

India’s IT and IT-enabled services exports, supported by the Software Technology Park (STP) Scheme, have significantly surpassed ₹7.73 lakh crore in the fiscal year 2025-26.

This notable achievement represents a substantial increase from the ₹6.88 lakh crore recorded in the preceding fiscal year. The number of operational STP units also expanded, growing from 2,042 in FY 2024-25 to 2,125 in FY 2025-26.

Leading States in IT Export Growth

Karnataka stands at the forefront of the nation’s IT exports, contributing nearly 45% of the total STP exports. This dominance is primarily driven by Bengaluru’s robust IT sector.

Maharashtra secured the second position, with its exports reaching approximately ₹1,62,594.11 crore. This performance is largely attributed to the thriving IT and ITeS sectors located in Mumbai and Pune.

Telangana ranks third nationally, achieving exports of around ₹1,13,101.83 crore. Hyderabad’s rapidly expanding technology industry has been a key driver for this state’s growth.

The top ten states also include Tamil Nadu, Delhi (NCT), Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, and Kerala. Each of these states has shown considerable growth originating from their respective IT hubs.

Enhancing Business Operations for Exporters

The ease of conducting business under the STP scheme has been substantially improved through several strategic initiatives. These measures aim to simplify processes for exporters nationwide.

One key enhancement involves the direct and near real-time sharing of export data. This data is transmitted to the Reserve Bank of India’s Export Data Processing and Monitoring System, streamlining financial oversight.

Furthermore, import permissions have been made more efficient and user-friendly. The scheme also implemented self-declaration for domestic sales in the majority of cases, reducing bureaucratic hurdles.

These improvements are actively fostering the expansion of India’s IT export ecosystem. The simplified operations benefit not only established centers but also emerging hubs and facilitate growth for smaller and newer exporters across various states.
