India and Singapore will convene the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) in Singapore on August 20, 2026. This meeting aims to expand cooperation across vital sectors, including trade, investment, advanced manufacturing, and digitalization.

Senior Indian ministers are scheduled to attend the roundtable. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada will travel to Singapore for discussions with their counterparts and the Singaporean leadership.

ISMR: A Platform for Strategic Cooperation

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) highlights the ISMR as a crucial platform for fostering cooperation, particularly in new and emerging areas. Its structured dialogues have been instrumental in shaping the strategic partnership between the two nations.

  • The inaugural ISMR meeting took place in New Delhi in September 2022.
  • The second meeting was held in Singapore in August 2024.
  • The third round convened in New Delhi in August 2025.

These deliberations, covering advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digitalization, healthcare and medicine, skills development, and sustainability, have directly contributed to the Roadmap for the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP). Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong unveiled this CSP Roadmap during his visit to India in September 2025.

Deepening Economic Ties and Investment Flows

Singapore maintains a significant economic relationship with India, standing as its largest trading partner within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The city-state is also India’s primary source of foreign direct investment (FDI), alongside being a major provider of external commercial borrowings and foreign portfolio investment.

  • Singapore ranked as India’s sixth-largest trading partner in the financial year 2024-25.
  • India’s imports from Singapore reached $21.2 billion in 2024-25.
  • Exports from India to Singapore were valued at $14.4 billion during the same period.
  • Over the last decade, Singapore’s annual investments in India have consistently ranged between $10 billion and $15 billion.

The upcoming ISMR underscores the continued commitment of both countries to strengthen these robust economic linkages and explore new avenues for mutual growth and development.
