India’s outward FDI commitments jumped 16.74% to $5.7B in July 2026, driven by loans & guarantees, according to RBI data. Equity sees a dip.
India’s outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) commitments saw a substantial increase, rising by 16.74% to $5,705.42 million in July 2026. This notable surge was highlighted in the latest report from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The current figures represent a significant jump compared to the previous year and month, demonstrating a robust expansion in India’s overseas investment activities. Understanding these components helps clarify the overall trend.

Comparing these numbers to previous periods reveals distinct shifts in each category of commitment. The overall OFDI in July 2026 was also higher than the $3,148.99 million recorded in June 2026.
Deconstructing Commitment Categories
While overall OFDI commitments climbed, equity commitments experienced a slight dip. They slipped by 2.81% to $2,019.42 million in July 2026, down from $2,077.70 million in July 2025.
However, this July 2026 equity figure still marked a substantial 160.18% increase over the $776.17 million committed in June 2026. This indicates a recovery in equity commitments following the preceding month.
Loan commitments showed considerable growth, reaching $876.24 million in July 2026. This represents a 102.52% rise from the $432.66 million reported in July 2025, effectively more than doubling within a year.
Guarantees issued also contributed significantly to the overall increase, expanding by 18.21% to $2,809.76 million in July 2026. This was up from $2,376.86 million in July 2025, further illustrating a broad-based expansion in India’s outward investment mechanisms.
