Global Stocks via Domestic Funds: 15 Schemes for Overseas Exposure

By Market DeskGlobal Stocks via Domestic Funds: 15 Schemes for Overseas Exposure

Access global equities through domestic mutual funds as international options are restricted. Discover 15 Indian schemes with foreign stock holdings.

If you’re an Indian investor looking to put your money into global markets, you might have noticed fewer options lately. Many international mutual funds have stopped new subscriptions because of overseas investment limits.

But don’t worry, there’s still a way to get that foreign equity exposure you’re looking for. You can find it right here in India, through certain domestic mutual funds.

Key Numbers on Global Exposure

  • A Value Research analysis from June 2026 showed that 15 domestic equity and hybrid schemes hold foreign stocks.
  • Two of these schemes have more than 26% allocation to foreign equities.
  • The Edelweiss Technology Fund had the highest overseas equity exposure at 26.8%.
  • The ICICI Prudential Passive Multi-Asset FoF showed a significant international allocation of 26.6%.
  • Motilal Oswal Asset Allocation Passive FoF – Conservative gained about 10.35% foreign exposure.

Funds Offering Global Access

The Edelweiss Technology Fund leads the pack with its 26.8% overseas equity exposure. This fund invests in major global technology companies.

  • Nvidia
  • Apple
  • Microsoft
  • Broadcom
  • Micron Technology

Another option is the ICICI Prudential Passive Multi-Asset FoF, with a 26.6% international allocation. This exposure comes through strategic investments in various global ETFs.

  • iShares MSCI Japan ETF
  • iShares MSCI China ETF
  • iShares Latin America 40 ETF

Even the Motilal Oswal Asset Allocation Passive FoF – Conservative provides foreign exposure, achieving about 10.35% through the Motilal Oswal S&P 500 Index Fund.

What to Keep in Mind

While these domestic funds offer a pathway to global markets, remember their main goal might not always be international investing. For example, technology funds focus on a specific sector, and multi-asset funds include foreign equities as part of a wider strategy.

In a recent update, Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund announced on August 3 that its Aqua FoF has resumed fresh subscriptions. This includes both lump-sum investments and new SIP/STP registrations.

However, the AMC has warned that these subscriptions might be suspended again. This could happen if the scheme gets close to its overseas investment limits once more, so keep an eye on any further announcements.
