By IPO Desk
SEBI is reviewing small company IPO and delisting rules, aiming to reduce costs and boost global fund management activities in India. Learn more.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is undertaking a comprehensive review of its regulations for small company initial public offerings (IPOs) and their subsequent delisting rules. SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey also stated efforts are underway to facilitate global fund management activities in India.
This regulatory overhaul aims to address specific challenges within the market. A primary concern identified is the significant cost associated with market making for initial public offerings by smaller firms. This indicates a focus on reducing barriers for these companies.
Streamlining Global Fund Management
Parallel to the IPO review, SEBI is working to boost India’s role in global fund management. Proposed amendments to portfolio manager regulations are designed to empower decision-makers. This will allow them to conduct trading operations from onshore locations.
Ensuring Market Integrity
Regarding the recently introduced closing auction session, which sets final trading prices, SEBI has implemented measures for robust oversight. Pandey confirmed the new system is specifically engineered for rapid detection of manipulative practices. The regulator is ready to take stringent action against any such detected manipulation.
These combined initiatives underscore SEBI’s commitment to enhancing market efficiency and integrity. The focus remains on supporting smaller enterprises while attracting global capital and maintaining fair trading practices across Indian markets.
