CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund-01 reports Tk6.77 crore profit but skips dividend due to upcoming scheme conversion. Unitholders to vote on open-end structure or redemption.

The CAPM BDBL Mutual Fund-01 has chosen not to declare a dividend for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2026. This decision comes despite the fund recording a net profit of Tk6.77 crore for the period.

The fund’s earnings per unit (EPU) stood at Tk1.35. Its Net Asset Value (NAV) on a cost-price basis was Tk55 crore, while the market-price NAV reached Tk45.19 crore as of 30 June 2026.

Per unit, the NAV was Tk10.97 at cost price and Tk9.01 at market price. These figures are contrasted against a face value of Tk10 per unit for the fund, managed by CAPM Company Limited.

The lack of dividend aligns with upcoming structural changes for the fund. Unitholders are set to convene for a Special General Meeting (SGM) on 7 October to vote on the scheme’s future.

Key proposals include converting the fund from a closed-end to an open-end structure or proceeding with its formal redemption. Eligibility for unitholders to participate in this SGM is determined by a record date of 15 September.

This strategic shift mirrors recent directives from the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC). The regulator has actively encouraged closed-end mutual funds trading at significant discounts to their NAV to consider similar conversions or liquidations.

Such measures are intended to protect investor interests within the market. The Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) currently serves in dual capacities as both the trustee and custodian for the fund.
