State Bank of India (SBI) and its subsidiary, SBI Capital Markets, are preparing to sell approximately 1% of their combined stake in the National Stock Exchange (NSE). This divestment comes ahead of NSE’s anticipated ₹30,000-crore Initial Public Offering (IPO).

NSE Stake Sale Details

  • SBI intends to divest a 0.65% stake.
  • SBI Capital Markets plans to sell 0.35%.
  • SBI Chairman C S Setty confirmed the group’s participation.
  • Current holdings: SBI holds 3.23%, SBI Capital Markets holds 4.33% in NSE.

The final divestment percentage could shift if other shareholders also opt to sell their stakes. SBI has no immediate plans to reduce its holdings in other subsidiaries.

In a separate development, SBI projects its home loan portfolio to exceed ₹10 lakh crore during the current quarter. This growth is driven by robust housing demand across the country.
